Fret not, for members wanting to brave the unpredictable Dutch weather and the winter cold, we will also be leading a walking tour of the light festival artworks. The walking route is about 6.5km which we will enjoy at a leisurely pace led by a fellow Oxbridge alum with access to the map where the installations are located. At the end of the walk you are welcome to join us for a warm beverage or drink (first drink courtesy of the Oxford & Cambridge Society) to warm up.
Due to the nature of the event and to keep the group size manageable, the number of tickets is very limited. Hurry get your tickets before they’re gone.
See you there.

About the Amsterdam Light Festival: Amsterdam Light Festival has been a yearly tradition for the last 12 years, lighting the city in the darkest months of the year. This year’s edition is special, as it coincides with Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary. For a whole year, all over town, residents, districts and institutions commemorate and celebrate the unique spirit of Amsterdam. To celebrate Amsterdam750 with light, art and each other Edition 13 has the theme of Rituals. Rituals have traditionally helped us through all kinds of transformations; from past to future, from winter to summer, from youth to adulthood. Light plays a vital role in many rituals, as a vibrant symbol of joy, energy and life. We use fireworks to usher in the new year, candles to commemorate, and midsummer fires to welcome the solstice. Light adds something mystical and sacred to a ritual like no other element can. And rituals unify. Rituals bring people together.

Dear Society Members and fellow alumni it is time to share details on the event we eagerly look forward to. The Oxford and Cambridge Society of the Netherlands would like to cordially invite you to attend our Event of the Year: The Annual Society Dinner. The dinner will be held on the 16th November at the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT) or the Royal Tropical Institute – an independent centre of expertise, education and hospitality dedicated to sustainable development. KIT served as the location for our dinner in 2023 too; welcoming us with the grandeur of its Marble Hall (with 12 special types of Marble from Tuscany) for pre-drinks followed by a lovely dinner in a majestic room. The location deserved an encore.
As every year, we welcome alumni and their guest(s) to join us for our traditional society dinner. Pre-dinner drinks will be followed by a delicious three-course meal, including a special wine arrangement and an insightful keynote speaker.
