Saturday, November 16th – The Annual Society Dinner

Date: Saturday, November 16th
Time: 18.30 onwards
Place: KIT/Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam

Dear Society Members and fellow alumni it is time to share details on the event we eagerly look forward to. The Oxford and Cambridge Society of the Netherlands would like to cordially invite you to attend our Event of the Year: The Annual Society Dinner. The dinner will be held on the 16th November at the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen (KIT) or the Royal Tropical Institute – an independent centre of expertise, education and hospitality dedicated to sustainable development. KIT served as the location for our dinner in 2023 too; welcoming us with the grandeur of its Marble Hall (with 12 special types of Marble from Tuscany) for pre-drinks followed by a lovely dinner in a majestic room. The location deserved an encore.

As every year, we welcome alumni and their guest(s) to join us for our traditional society dinner.  Pre-dinner drinks will be followed by a delicious three-course meal, including a special wine arrangement and an insightful keynote speaker.

Keynote Speaker – Joe Zammit-Lucia

Joe writes, speaks and advises business leaders on how businesses can be successful in a politicised world. He is the author of “The New Political Capitalism: How businesses and societies can thrive in a deeply politicized world” and a founder of RADIX and the RADIX Centre for Business, Politics & Society – public policy think tanks focused on system renewal in an increasingly volatile world. He has previously had successful careers in multinational corporations and as an entrepreneur. He has been involved in the political sphere for the last decade. He has lived and worked in the UK, USA, Germany, France, Spain, The Netherlands and Malta and speaks five languages.

He will speak on the subject of “Europe in a fast-changing world…and how we can help.”

Saturday, 5th October – Fall Walk with Alpacas

Date: Saturday, October 5th
Time: 10am
Place: Alpaca Farm Breda

Have you always wanted to walk with an alpaca? Do you want to get away from the city and are you looking for a fun but relaxing activity in nature? Join us for our Fall Walk with some special guests. This year’s version involves walking with some fuzzy and friendly Alpacas close to Breda.

We will enjoy a relaxing walk through the nature as we adapt ourselves to the pace of the alpacas. They are sweet, gentle and sensitive animals. Along the way there will of course be opportunities to take pictures of you and your cute alpaca friend. At the end of the walk you will have built a bond with them and you will know more about the character of your new cuddly four-legged friends (two alumni per one cute alpaca). The total duration of the walk will be around 1.5hrs. Size of the group is limited so sign up now before tickets sell out and enjoy spending time with these fuzzy animals. For those wishing to stay on, there are lovely walking routes along Breda as well or you can also enjoy the city on a lovely autumn afternoon.

We will meet at 10am at Breda Train Station and will go the farm from there together (via bus or shared car, with some walking). Breda is reachable from in about an hour by train from Amsterdam Centraal, Den Haag Centraal and Utrecht Centraal for alumni based in these cities while alumni in Rotterdam need less than 30min to reach Breda station.

Price: 14 EUR pp (society members), 18 EUR (non-members)

Unfortunately tickets for the walk have been sold out! Tickets may be refunded until one week before the event. The Ticket Tailor fee is non-refundable. For further questions or to be added to the waiting list contact us via info@oxbridge-nl.

NB: This event requires membership to the Society, so please make sure to purchase a membership. More information can be found here if you have yet not done so yet. Membership allows us to run and subsidize our events throughout the year. Any member tickets held without active membership may be cancelled and refunded. For any questions, please email the Oxbridge NL Secretary at secretary.ocnl@gmail.com
