CANCELLED: March 2020: 166th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race

The Boat Race has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. 

 

The President and Committee of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of the Netherlands have great pleasure in inviting you to the Boat Race Dinner on Sunday 29th March at the KNZ&RV, Muiden (opposite the Muiderslot castle).

The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is one of the oldest sporting events in the world and is one of the highlights of our Society’s annual program. Both the Women’s (start time 16:44) and the Men’s Boat Race (start time 17:44) will be shown. The dinner will take place after the Men’s Boat race, and in between the 2 races a brief AGM will be held for Society members.

The price of 45€ for members & for guests includes a 3-course dinner followed by coffee/tea. A free drink will be available to all just before the AGM commences. The event location & bar will be open from 16:15 onwards.

The 3-course menu has fish/ meat/mvegetarian options, please inform us of your preferred option & of any dietary constraints when purchasing your ticket on Eventbrite.

The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is one of the oldest sporting events in the world. The 166th race will be held this year on Saturday, March 29th with both the Women’s Boat Race and the Men’s Boat Race being rowed on the Thames. The scores since the races first began in 1829 (men) and 1927 (women) now stand at:

Men: Oxford 80 : Cambridge 84

Women: Oxford 30 : Cambridge 44

February 2020: Candlemas

Join us for an afternoon of music and poetry, readings and other contributions from our own members. This year we will be deviating from the usual evening format and holding it on a Sunday afternoon instead. Guests will be welcomed with coffee, tea or glühwein in Emile van Leenen’s piano workshop. During the interval we will serve a substantial tea and drinks.

Please let us know if you would like to contribute an item such as a piece of music (there is a grand piano in the room), a short talk or something else. All contributions are welcome but you are also free just to come and enjoy the afternoon!

December 2019: Christmas dinner with the Harvard Society

We, the Oxford & Cambridge Society of the Netherlands and Harvard Club of the Netherlands are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the 2019 edition of our annual Christmas Dinner at Café Restaurant Schlemmer.

Café Restaurant Schlemmer in The Hague is situated conveniently in the heart of The Hague, in the immediate vicinity of the parliament and the Koninlijke Schouwburg. This Bohemian restaurant, loved by politicians and actors since 1984, has been reserved exclusively for our group.

Join us for a three-course dinner including two drinks and coffee, at an intimate and festive gathering at a unique location, an easy walk from Den Haag Centraal. You will be able to choose from an extensive menu on the evening itself. Parking is available within walking distance. Places are limited, so sign up soon.
