October 2019: Round table with prof. em. Henk Dekker

Politics is ultimately the work of human beings. If we want to understand politics better, we need to include psychological concepts and approaches in our analysis. What is the political mind of human beings and what are the most important ingredients? Crucial is the attitude towards one’s own country and people; patriotism or nationalism. This is also true in a globalising environment. Prof. em. Dekker will discuss with us his research on these matters.

prof. em. Dekker is a professor in political socialisation and integration and name-giver to the inter-university Henk Dekker award for Educational Innovation. His research includes nationalism, political cynicism, and political socialisation.

July 2019: Cambridge University Wind Orchestra Tour in NL

From Olivia Dodd, Richard Moulange and Robin Otter, Cambridge University Wind Orchestra Tour 2019 Managers: “CUWO was founded in 1987, under the guidance of Tim Reynish. Renowned for its high standard of music and friendly atmosphere, CUWO attracts [many of] the top wind players from across Cambridge University. Last year, we celebrated our 30th anniversary and undertook our most ambitious tour to date, to New York and Canada – this was a great success. We are delighted to be playing in the Netherlands this year, with three concerts across the country in Amsterdam, Haarlem and Delft, especially given the tradition of Harmonie Orchestras. We would be delighted to have some Oxbridge Alumni in attendance at our concerts. We will be playing at:

3rd July, 19.30 – Joint concert with Harmoniekapel Delft in the Beestenmarkt, Delft

4th July, 20.00 – Our flagship concert at the Oosterkerk, Amsterdam

5th July (time and location tbc) – playing in Haarlem

If you have any questions or queries , please email us at cuwotour2019@gmail.com. We hope to see some of you there!”
